Isabel Young won the Women's 5.0 in the U.S. Squash Skill Level Championships. She also competed in the final of the Open 3.5 division. To make that final she won a four game match against a Virginia boy who played #2 and #3 this season on his high school varsity team.
Tyler Stillwell reached the consolation finals of the Open 4.5 division.
The Potomac Girls Varsity team competed in Division 1 of the High School National Championships, the first time a National Capital girls team has ever competed in the nation's most elite division. At the championships, the Potomac girls got to match ball in an individual match that would have secured at least a top 12 finish, but it slipped away. Still, the girls finished the season with a national ranking of 16, while the Potomac boys took 15th in the nation. National Capital Squash (NCS) players enjoyed playing the US Masters Championship last month at the fantastic new McArthur Squash Center facility at Boars Head (University of Virginia).
Congratulations to Carole Grunberg, who took top honors in the Women 55+ division in a tightly contested draw.
Results The Gym Head Pro Brian O'Hora reached the finals in the highly competitive Men's 35+ division. Brian dispatched the #2 seed in three easy games, but fell in four games in the final.
Bruce Simons-Morton knocked off the Men's 65+ #1 seed in the quarters, with a tremendous comeback after trailing 2-1. He came close, but lost the final in five games.

The U.S. National Women’s Team Championships will be hosted by the women of National Capital Squash, Nov 14-16, at the McArthur Squash Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. There will be 5-women team draws in the A, B, C, and D divisions, and Doubles draws in the A and B divisions.

On Sunday March 30 at the Potomac School courts, a 9-member team of selected National Capital Squash (NCS) women squash players took on their rivals from Baltimore in pursuit of the 2014 Lacy Cup, the annual DC-vs-Baltimore women's team competition.
The bottom of the Baltimore ladder consisted of four young ladies from Baltimore's urban squash program, SquashWise. NCS newcomer and #9 player Claire Huschle lost 3-0 to her Baltimore opponent, as did #8 Maureen Wylie. Another NCS newcomer, Elizabeth Holdefer, fought a good battle at the #7 position and ultimately lost 3-1.

As part of the Women's Squash Week national promotion originated by US Squash, the National Capital Squash event was held on the evening of Wednesday September 25 at the Sports Club/LA in downtown Washington. Approximately 30 women of all ages and skill levels participated in the highly social event that included "Queen of the Court" play at three different skill levels. Women who are new to the game welcomed the opportunity to meet other players, and women new to the District were able to identify other women players at their level. The event was free to participants, and raspberry-colored T-shirts promoting "Women's Squash Week" donated by US Squash were distributed.
